Help us get 500 signatures in support of

A Teacher Perspective on Attendance Policy

About the importance of this paper...

Dear Teachers,

Teachers, not bureaucrats, wrote this policy. This paper is the first of it's kind in Hawaii - crafted by teachers to be delivered to the DOE in an effort to get teachers the support they need. Supporting this policy shows not only your support for attendance, but your support for teacher involvement in education policy work.

This paper, its success and its failure, means more than just a change to attendance policy. It means a more equal balance of power between teachers and administrators. This paper is the first step in the direction of a more teacher-led school system.

By signing in support this document, you are saying that you believe that teachers should have power over education policy. By signing, you are helping to build an infrastructure that will allow teachers in the future to continue to build influence and the power to affect policy. We need cohesion to do that.

Learning First HI's vision for education is teacher-led schools and teacher-led education policy. Teachers are the center of this vision because we believe that empowering teachers is the key to improving our schools and increasing student success. We humbly ask you to help us make that vision a reality.
